Correction, Self-Adjustment and Nutritional Aid against Hiatal Hernia
Correction
Hiatal hernia is a mechanical malfunction of stomach, esophagus et al to control the direction of food movement and secretions. Therefore, a mechanical remedy in the form of surgery can be resorted to. Those who oppose surgery, argues that by resorting to surgery the area gets weakened and complicates the issue.
Interestingly, there is another method to bring down the stomach to normal position by hand. But, only a trained professional such as chiropractor, massage therapist or applied kinesiologist who knows or trained to manipulate the stomach by hand , can only do this.
Self Adjustment
As already mentioned in the above paragraph that only a trained professional should do the hand correction to bring down the stomach. But there are very simple techniques which a patient can easily perform regularly himself without the help of any professional. The technique consists of three postures:
First the patient should drink a pint of warm water. The warm water will relax the stomach and the diaphragm. The weight in the stomach may tend to go down to its position.
Next, the patient should stand on his toes and drop to his knees few times. These practices will bring relief to the patient depending upon the severity of the hiatal hernia.
Nutritional Aids
Permanent solution to hiatal hernia may take time. But, there are ways and means to get relief through right source of nutrition. There are herbs which absorbs the acidic secretions in the stomach and stop reverse passage to esophagus. These herbs are very useful and called mucilaginous herbs viz. slippery elms and comfrey.
Herbs protect the ileocecal valve from irritation and help the healing process once the surgery is completed. Other items which a hiatal hernia patient should take-
- Marshmallows
- Brown Rice
- Papaya and Peppermint
- Chamomile Tea
- Safflowers
- Ginger Root
- Barley Water
- Balm
